Public Art Exhibiton at Gödör Club

Great innovations for women. This is the title of the unique public art exhibition at the Gödör Club in the downtown of Budapest.



The strange (and I think funny) sculptures refer to the inventions of the XX. century that have changed the life of women.

The project is sponsored by Ariel. Open until 2010. 8th of April.

Budapest Hotelstart

Budapest HotelStart is a smart accommodation search system on the internet designed to help you book your hotel in Budapest (or other parts of Hungary).

The system is simple yet user friendly. I like websites that are not full of unnecessary information to the extent that the main function is almost invisible. On the Budapest HotelStart, the Hotel Finder is the main feature of the site.



You can choose to have the service available in any of the 12 languages: English, German, Italian, French, Romanian, Czech, Swedish, Norwegian, Polish, Spanish, Dutch, Hungarian.

I made a trial on the English version. You have to select the town you would like to visit, fill in your arrival and departure dates, choose the number of rooms, and press the "Check Rates" button. Every hotel in Budapest or your destination town in Hungary, where there is free capacity for the desired period will be listed, together with the room rates.

Every visitor of the website gets a personalized result as any available discount for the period of their stay is automatically displayed: bonus nights for long term stays, lower rates for those who book months before their trip, and last minutes discounts for adventurers.


I have chosen a random day in January. The most expensive accommodation found on the first page displayed was the five-star Corinthia Grand Hotel Royal for 154 Eur/night for a double room. The lowest price that I found was the three-star Hotel Budai or the two-star Agape Apartmenthouse for 34 Eur/night for a double room.

The advantage of the site is that, besides the rates and useful information (services, photos, location on the map, etc.), you can read guest reviews about the listed hotels. For example about the Agape Apartment house, Wai Chan (mature couple from England) wrote the following:

„Only had 1 night in Budapest, now kicking ourselves. The apartment is very close to transport and close to all the big sites. The apartment is brand new with all mod conds. it would be even better if we were staying longer! A bargain."


Other than checking and booking hotels you can get relevant information on the Budapest HotelStart about tourist attractions and weather, and about services like airport transfer, carrental, city tours, etc.
