Held every year at the Vörösmarty tér is a traditional Christmas Fair that presents a wonderful festive atmosphere. It is free for entry and it is an internationally well-known Christmas activity in Budapest and you can get to experience Christmas spirit all around in those friendly wooden pavilions.

Check out the 100 crafts pavilions display of special gifts and folk art and craft objects. Here you can see the very best of the Hungarian craftspeople selling handmade products made of materials of the highest quality from intricate porcelain to cut glass. Of course, you can also find leather goods made with the quality assurance by Hungarian Society of Folk Arts.

Other than high quality programs, in Hungary you must experience the culture and traditional food from baked gastronomic delights to strudel, grilled meats and sausages, Christmas cookies, Kürtőskalács. Kürtős kalács is a recommended 'must try' as it is a freshly made Hungarian pastry with a hollow centre, in a cylinder-shaped with different coatings: cinnamon, walnut, original.

From afar, smelled the wonderful aroma of the fresh bread 'lángos' that is baked in traditional “Töki” clay oven. Keep your body warm by sipping hot Mulled Wine served in special 'Budapest designed' mug which you can take home.

At exactly 5 o'clock (5pm) from 1st-24th December, another window of the calendar is opened. Hear the beautiful chime music and festive wind-instrument pieces. Within these windows are stunning contemporary painting with special lighting effects.

There is also a special children's puppet theatre performance. Bring your children to the craft tent where they can visit Santa, and whisper in his ears personally their Christmas' wishes.
